On the AMWSA’s request the Lajna students were, alhamdollilah, granted the opportunity by Hazoor to hold a student mulaqat in Hazoor’s presence.
On the 16th April 2011 the students congregated prior to the mulaqat in the Lajna Office on Gressenhall Road. (#) student attended the mulaqat of which there were (#) MSc and (#) BSc students with the majority studying in the area of Natural Sciences.
After the arrival of Hazoor in Mahmood Hall, the mulaqat was initiated with the recitation of the Holy Quran. The verses 28-31 of Surah Al-Fatir were recited by Samina Ahmed (Arabic and French, BA, ). Following this, the translation of these verses was read out by Sadia Rana (Physics, Msci, Imperial College London) and is as follows:
Dost thou not see that Allah sends down water from the sky and We bring forth therewith fruits of different colours; and among the mountains are streaks white and red, of diverse hues and others raven black;
And of men and beasts and cattle, in like manner, there are various colours? Only those of His servants who possess knowledge fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Mighty, Most Forgiving
Surely, only those who follow the Book of Allah and observe Prayer and spend out of what We have provided for them, secretly and openly, hope for a bargain which will never fail;
In order that He may give them their full rewards, and even increase them out of His bounty. He is surely Most Forgiving, Most Appreciating.
After this two presentations were held by members of the AMWSA. The first presentation was entitled “Identifications of Novel DNA repair defects in radiation hypersensitive human cells” and was held by Sobia Zafar currently working towards an MSc with an interest in Cancer Research. The presentation was well received with questions arising from the exact method of cancer treatment and the intriguing role of radiation treatment in this respect. Hazoor also had an interest in that topic and shared information with the students about an Ahmadi Researcher who on Hazoor’s suggestion is currently analysing the benefits of Suchi buti (or ) in the treatment of uterus cancer and its greater advantage over more conventional treatment such as chemotherapy.
The second presentation was entitled “Developing a measure of the utility of an autistic spectrum disorder diagnosis” and was held by Maria Qureshi who is currently studying for an MSc in Research Methods in Psychology. The presentation met with much interest especially with students of a biological and psychological background. Questions in particular on the types and treatments of autism and its detection were asked by Hazoor and the students.
The students then had the opportunity to ask question to Hazoor about personaleducational guidance and to seek prayers for their educational success.
The mulaqat concluded at . Those that attended expressed great pleasure in having attended and hoped that these invaluable mulaqats may become a regular part of the AMWSA yearly events.
